Proposals for Convening Grants
Beverly Nagel and Marci Sortor are pleased to accept proposals from faculty and staff members at Carleton and St. Olaf for small “Convening Grants” to cover meetings that investigate fuller collaboration, including activities suitable to larger “Exploration Grants.”
Distinct from the larger Exploration Grants that are sought twice per year, Convening Grants will fund discrete meetings that are explicitly intended to investigate ways for faculty and staff to collaborate, rather than to support that collaboration itself. A typical Convening Grant might cover the cost of light refreshments or a meal at which two or more faculty or staff members – at least one from each college, and ideally more – discuss the feasibility of collaboration. Collaborative activities themselves, such as a series of meetings, a faculty workshop, a joint or team-taught course, and the like should continue to be funded through the Exploration Grant mechanism.
Requests for Convening Grants of up to $500 will be accepted on a rolling basis through the online application form below. Applicants will receive a response within 10 days of receipt.
