On March 31, Carleton and St. Olaf submitted their first annual project report to the Mellon Foundation. With a very wide array of activities, the colleges reported several key accomplishments in the first year of the grant, which covered the calendar year 2014:

  • Library staff conducted substantial research into a new library management system (with adoption planned for 2015).
  • Library and information technology leaders developed several shared positions in the library and IT organizations.
  • Library and IT staff worked to harmonize numerous library and IT policies and practices, and creatively explored opportunities for additional collaboration.
  • A faculty committee awarded sixteen “Exploration Grants” worth a total of approximately $50,000 to faculty and staff teams that are undertaking collaborative projects. (Summaries of these grants can be found here: spring 2014 | fall 2014.)
